Pakistan has announced a new set of travel restrictions for Eid-ul-Azha to contain the spread of Corona virus in the wake of already mounting Corona virus cases.

The government has decided that only vaccinated people will be allowed to visit tourist resorts on Eid so as an attempt to encourage people for vaccination and at the same time to avoid the spread of virus.

Special assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Faisal Sultan said this while talking to media in Islamabad on Monday. He further said that there is a surge in the positivity rate of Corona Virus in the recent days, it has increased from two percent to four percent which is a very alarming situation.

He added that the surge in the cases is due to the violation of SOPs as people are no more practice social distancing and wearing masks. Moreover, the deadly variant from India has also worsened the situation.

The minister requested people to follow SOPs in order to battle against the virus and stay safe, so the pandemic can be contained.

“Full efforts to implement the SOPs shall be made with the help of the administration and army”, said Faisal in his statement.

He also addressed the rumors of shortage of vaccine in the country saying that there is no shortage of vaccine in the country in fact four hundred and fifty thousand vaccines have been administered so far.

It should be noted that concerns of fourth wave of corona virus in Pakistan have grown amid the emergence of the Delta variant, a strain of the virus first identified in India. Last week, Prime Minister Imran Khan also called Delta Variant the “biggest concern” and urged the people to take safety precautions.
