Defense Minister Pervez Khatak, President of National Assembly Asad Qaiser, told a briefing with the Federal Info Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday about the situation with the PTI, PPP, and PML-N leaders.

Pervez Khatak stated that the government and opposition agreed to conduct the National Assembly’s (NA) affairs properly.

He remarked that the uproar in the parliament was not an advantage of democracy and the Constitution. He was condemning the happenings in the Chamber. “The Opposition and the Government are responsible for keeping order in the House. We have to be respectful,”  

Khatak said the assembly episode was not an omen of democracy or the constitution, condemning the tragic incidents in the parliament. He added that all members had to respect one another.

In the meantime, Chaudhry pointed out that the subject has been discussed in depth with opposition figures. The official said the committee had discussed the improvement of the NA Speaker’s powers, while he hoped the move against Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri would be brought back.PPP Raja Pervez Ashraf afterward stated that the Government promised to revise the law promptly and that, in return, the opposition would consider removing the motion of no faith against Suri.

He emphasized out that the members must use proper language, while endeavors must be taken to prevent ruckus.

The Minister stated that a committee had to be set up to consider the giving of more powers to the NA speaker so that he could effectively handle any disruptive atmosphere in the future.

Chaudhry said on that occasion that the legislators ought not to take action that confuses them.

Ali Nawaz Awan, Ali Gohar Khan, Chaudhry Hamid Hameed, Sheik Rohale Asghar, Abdul Majeed Khan,  Syed Agha Rafiullah, and Faheem Khan were all forbidden MNAs. Subsequently, the NA speaker removed the notice of an end to friction and normalization of the situation between the opposition parties’ benches.
