Instagram is an American social networking app that allows you to share pictures and videos on your account and with your friends. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. It was launched on October 6, 2010. Instagram is available in 32 languages for you and its owner is Facebook. Instagram allows you to post your pictures and also you can edit your pictures and videos with filters, it also lets you direct message your friend, makes you post authorized hashtags, and also let you add your location. There are many more features that Instagram provides you to enjoy.
The most popular and commonly used app Instagram has updated its feature. From August 30, Instagram is disconnecting the feature of swipe-up, which allows people to see any video, picture, or website that is linked with it, and also you can visit external sites by staying on Instagram. This news is confirmed by the company.
The swipe-up feature will be replaced by the link stickers, as per Instagram. These stickers will be tappable and will take the user to the external links just by tapping. The company stated that it is retiring to swipe up the link feature while Instagram has its collection of GIFS to provide all the users more freedom, variety and also offer them creativity. Users can customize the stickers according to their desire and taste while the swipe-up feature cannot and doesn’t provide you variety.
The company has started testing the new feature in the summer of this year. In June, Instagram started testing these new link sticker features. It was available to the users who had the advantage of swipe up. For availing of this swipe-up feature, the users should have at least 10,000 followers.
During the testing period, Vishal Shah, former head of product at Instagram, stated to the media that the stickers are more appropriate as compared to the current usage of the users. He also said that the purpose was to distribute the stickers all over the world very widely. Moreover, the benefit of using stickers is that the viewers can respond to articles with a link sticker and they do not have to swipe up.
