The positivity rate of COVID was two percent last month which has surged to 3.33 percent this month making the situation alarming. Pakistan reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases since June 4.

To tackle with the situation of the fourth variant, NCOC has chalked out an effective plan.

“Failure to take precautionary measures against the delta variant can lead to dangerous consequences”, said the statement.

The forum also decided that enforcement of safety precautions would be jacked up, specifically during the period of 9th to 18th July because of the Eid-ul-Azha ahead.

To curb unnecessary movement on Eid, a number of proposals are under consideration keeping in view the situation of virus spread.

The NCOC has asked the workers of several industries to get vaccinated by July 31. These industries include the workers of small scale and large-scale industries, employees of agriculture, media sector, mosques and workshops and wedding halls and the private corporate sector employees.

Moreover, the students aged above 18 are also required to get themselves vaccinated by August 31.
