As per The Sun, it appears that Meghan Markle is preparing to enter the world of politics as she has hired Katie McCormick Lelyveld, who formerly served as press chief for Michelle Obama.
According to the outlet, new rumors started when the Archewell Foundation paid nearly £90,000 (approximately $111,104) to the PR company of Katie McCormick Lelyveld in 2021, as indicated in Archewell’s tax returns.
As per the outlet, the payment was intended for “strategic assistance with public relations for social impact.”
The company takes pride in its “dynamic experience spanning several decades with influential figures” and claims to be the go-to choice for global leaders seeking guidance in navigating challenges across various domains such as reputation management, politics, philanthropy, law, and finance.
From 2007 to 2011, Lelyveld worked as the press secretary for former First Lady Mrs. Obama. Additionally, she has provided public relations services for Hillary Clinton and former presidential candidate John Kerry, giving her valuable connections to the Democratic Party.
The report comes after the outlet disclosed a clandestine meeting that took place between the Duchess of Sussex and US presidential hopeful Gavin Newsom in 2020.
Furthermore, in 2021, Meghan started making unsolicited calls to personal phones of US senators to urge them to pass a bill for paid family leave.
During that time, Senator Shelley Capito, a Republican, expressed her confusion as to how Meghan was able to obtain her contact number, stating that she couldn’t “figure out how she got my number.” According to Omid Scobie, a friend and biographer of the Duchess, the former Suits actress has set her sights on the US presidency.
