Recently, the popular social media website Twitter dropped its stories-like feature “fleets”. It was a fun feature that allowed people to share pictures, videos, and even their own or someone else’s tweets. In the meanwhile, Tiktok seems to be investing in its version of stories. This feature was spotted by a random user. Later, it was confirmed by the company.
A spokesperson to TikTok gave insights and said “We’re always thinking about new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the Tiktok experience. Currently, we’re experimenting with ways to give creators additional formats to bring their creative ideas to life for the Tiktok Community”.
Keeping in mind that the already present features like duets, the stitch will not be replaced. This seems like a fun new addition.
To sum up, the Tiktok stories will surely compete with Instagram. The two sites are already rivals of each other due to the rising popularity of TikTok. The same story features present on every other social site such as a picture or a video that disappears after 24 hours and the liberty to keep a check on views and comments will be provided. The feature will be present on the left-hand side panel of the main page of the app. The stories panel will come with its camera and creation option, appearing on the left side of the screen.
Tiktok already has its main focus on short-timed videos. So, in this case, introducing a story option seems strange. The main point of all of this? Tiktok has been growing tremendously over the past few years and is now on the edge of a new era of growth and popularity. It is estimated that it would become the new social app with billion users by the end of 2021. This development would put it among the most frequently used apps: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
As reported by the company, no official date has been announced for the launch of this new feature. It is said to be released in a short time once it goes through the testing phase.
