Crossing Points At Borders Sealed DG ISPR

Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major Babar Iftikhar said on Saturday that the growing number of attacks and terrorism activities in the country were linked with the developing political situation in Afghanistan.

The DG ISPR in his talk to a private news channel was asked that whether the recent wave of terrorism is connected with the situation in Afghanistan or whether the local outfits such as Tehreek- Labaik- Taliban Pakistan and Balochistan Liberation Army was behind such attacks.

“These recent events definitely have a relation with the situation developing on the other side [in Afghanistan]. As a result of our operations, there is no organised terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and the leadership of all these networks is sitting across in Afghanistan and they have had the support of [Indian intelligence agency] RAW and India”.

He further said that Pakistan Army is keeping an eye on the situation in the region and Pakistan is sincerely playing its role for the success of Afghan peace process.

Pakistan will be directly affected if the situation in Afghanistan worsened and a peaceful Afghanistan will have a positive impact on Pakistan, he said.

The ISPR cheif’s statement came two days after as many Pakistani army troops were martyred in a terrorist attack in Khuda bakhsh bazaar near the coastal town of Pasni in Balochistan.

Two days before this incident, two security personnel, including an officer, embraced martyrdom while three others received injuries from militants in the Zewa area of Kurram tribal district.

Measures to ensure safety of the country

While discussing the safety measures undertaken by Pakistan, the ISPR cheif said that the fencing of Pak-Afghan border is ninety-one percent complete and that the task of fencing of Pak-Iran border has aslo been started.

The fencing will be as beneficial for   Pakistan’s security  as for Afghanistan.

While elaborating the security risks, the DG ISPR said the security domain threat included risk of revival of sleeper cells, restoration of terrorist groups in Balochistan that can make nexus with hostile agencies. The Pakistan Army is ready to fight all threats to national peace and security.
