The Muslim community all over the globe is celebrating Eid-ul-Azha also known as Bakra Eid, on which all the Muslims who can afford the sacrifice of animals do so to revive the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim (A.s) Many people have a habit of eating only meat on this Eid or eating it in excess. However, health experts have warned the citizens not to eat too much of sacrificial animals as excessive consumption of red meat cause a lot of digestive disorders, nausea, vomiting, food poisoning and an increase in blood pressure and uric acid.
A medical specialist of Holy Family Hospital, Dr Fazl-ul-Rehman said that the citizens must intake plenty of water during and after Eid holidays. The excessive use of water helps in better functioning of the stomach and also, we end up eating less.
“Various public and private health facilities receive scores of cases of various stomach-related illnesses during Eid days; hence the lovers of red meat were advised to abstain from using too much meat to remain fit and healthy,” he added
Secondly, moderation is the key, be it Eid or any other occasion you should eat in moderation. Dietitians recommend that daily intake of red meat should not exceed more than 100gm.
Health experts also advise to minimize the use of spices, salt and oil as the excess of these leads to high blood pressure, stroke, hyper-tension and cardio-vascular diseases.
Fizzy drinks should also be avoided as drinking fizzy drinks just add more burden to blood sugar levels and cause an unwanted excretion of calcium from bones.
