Afghans Vs Taliban's Situation Intensified

The Taliban have had control over Afghanistan from 1996 till 2001. The U.S army came to help in 2001 and both the parties have been fighting since then. The Taliban took refuge in Pakistan and assembled around its border to emerge much stronger than before. The invasion of the U.S army cost the citizens of Afghanistan as the Taliban started a revolution against the government. After years and years of war, a peace treaty was signed between the two parties in 2020. The agreement had the sharing of power between the Afghans and the Taliban. However, it was of no use.

Joe Biden’s government starting in 2021 gave us good news. He ordered the withdrawal of the U.S troops from Afghanistan. It seemed, at first, that Afghanistan was free of war. The country would prosper again and the children would see a sky adorned with stars and not drones and missiles. But we were all wrong. As the troops left Afghanistan, the Taliban rose again and this time, stronger than ever.

The Taliban are a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of Afghanistan. They are a danger to the democracy and independence of the state. Moreover, they also put the rights of the citizens and their security in jeopardy.

The fights between the Taliban militants and Afghan troops have intensified over the past few weeks. The militants have been trying to capture big cities. They have been successful in controlling almost 54% of the state. Previously, they only had control over 20%. The residents have been paying a heavy price. The fighting is continued in the streets now. According to UNAMA, around 5183 deaths and injuries of civilians only has been reported. Children and women make up the majority of this number. The Taliban are responsible for about 40% of the causalities.

Speaking of now fighting is going on in Shiberghan city. Zabiullah Mujahid claims to have captured a police HQ but the claim was denied by a government official. In addition to this, the Taliban militants are trying to take over the cities of Herat, Kandahar, Taluqan, Lashkar Gah, and Kunduz.

Talking of the militants, around 200 of them have lost their lives in the disputes in the past 24 hours. Sources tell that around 100 were killed in Lashkar Gah, Shiberghan 70, and Herat is covered in the blood of 35 of them.
