Noor Mukaddam, the 27-year-old lady was brutally murdered by scion of an influential family. The incident had been making rounds on social media ever since it took place and social media is raging with the hashtag #Justice-for_Noor.
A key development has been made in Zahir Jaffer’s case as the accused has confessed to his crime after a physical remand of 5 days. While explaining the reason behind the gruesome murder, he said that Noor was cheating on him due to which he murdered her.
“I stopped her after knowing about her betrayal but she denied which made me angry”, he added.
He further said that betrayal was unbearable for him which made him take this step.
The motive as apparent is curated with external help to exploit the mentality of majority Pakistanis who still justify the murder of women through the phrase, honor killing.
Earlier, after his arrest Zahir started speaking incoherently so as to pretend that he is mentally unstable. However, the police dealt with that by saying that Zahir was coherent with his speech upon his arrest. Claim at fault, he had to let of the attempt. Following that, he changed his motive for murdering Noor several times and has now allegedly settled on one.
It has also been reported that the mother of Zahir Jaffer and the security guards hid the incident for three hours, and by the time police arrived the incident had been taken place.
US cannot affect Zahir Jaffer’s release- US embassy
As the incident of Noor Mukaddam’s murder is being discussed, one major concern which troubled everyone was that Zahir Jaffer may be saved or released on account of his dual citizenship. The belief strengthened when Zahir kept on reiterating that he is an American citizen, the culprit said the same in his latest court appearance and there was no humility on his heinous crime. Yesterday, the US Embassy officials met with Zahir in police’s presence and the tweet that followed was unimaginable. In the tweet, they said that while they can check up on the well-being of their citizen, they cannot affect the court proceedings in the matter.
We hope and pray that justice may be served and an example must be set so that no one again will dare to do such a crime.
